Circa 1900s Maidu friendship basket. Measures about 5.25" x 13" diameter x 5" opening. It has 6 warp stitches and 9 wefts per inch. Hand-coiled, made of tan willow, redbund (red) and bracken fern root (black) over 3 rod willow foundation. Unknown maker. Signs of wear commensurate with age, a few stitches missing, no restoration. Certificate of appraisal included ($1,600.00).
