California Miwok Indian coiled basket made of natural materials. Staining found. Most baskets were used for cooking acorn mush where hot stones were added to the mush to raise its temperature and begin cooking. When the stones got cool they were removed and hot stones were added until the mush is cooked through.
This basket measures about 5.25" x 2.25" tall. Staining and wear due to age and use.
